Kosei Publishing Co. is well known as a publisher of authoritative works on religion and the quality of life. Since our inauguration in 1966, we have constantly promoted a better understanding of the spirit of Buddhism, particularly the Buddha's ageless teachings of benevolence, equality, and peace. We publish books on Buddhist philosophy, translations, modern interpretations of Buddhist scriptures, a weekly newspaper, and monthly magazines. We also produce recordings. We undertake all of these activities in order to promote Buddhist ideals. Our most representative work in English is The Threefold Lotus Sutra, a trilogy of Buddhist scriptures consisting of the Sutra of Innumerable Meanings, the Sutra of the Lotus Flower of the Wonderful Law, and the Sutra of Meditation on the Bodhisattva Universal Virtue. This book presents them together for the first time in English and won an International Publications Cultural Award from the Publishers Association for Cultural Exchange, Japan, in 1976. We have also published a modern interpretation of the Lotus Sutra, Buddhism for Today, by Nikkyo Niwano, the founder of Rissho Kosei-kai, a Buddhist association based in Japan.
